I brought back quotes of season 1’s “Stayed Gone” for Season 2, Episode 4. Since Alastor and Vox drive these scenes, it felt right to echo the song that defined their dynamic in Season 1.
Carrying that rivalry forward through the score with the same energy but new context.

Hazbin Hotel score analysis from S4, E4, "It's a Deal". The moment when Alastor is gagged… but the radios keep talking. Spooky and tense, I had fun using some dark chords and string glissandos.

This video showcases the sheet music for “Baxter’s Theme” from Hazbin Hotel Season 2 — the cue that introduces Baxter’s character. You’ll also hear brief nods to Sir Pentious’ theme woven into the orchestration as he comes up in the dialogue. Originally, the cue ended with a short transition into the song “Hazbin Guarantee.” That section was ultimately cut so the moment could breathe — allowing Charlie’s awkward silence to land naturally — leaving behind only a string swell in the final version. Composing for these transitions (and there are quite a few throughout the season) is like solving a musical puzzle: listening to the upcoming song, finding its key, chords, and melody, and crafting a seamless bridge that feels organic within the score and the song.

A quick analysis of the cue from the opening of Hazbin Hotel, Season 2 Episode 3, “Hazbin Hotel: Behind Closed Doors.”

All the moments featuring Sir Pentious’ theme from Hazbin Hotel Season 2, Episode 2 – “Storyteller.” Originally composed by  @Gooseworx  and Evan Alderete for the pilot and Season 1, the theme continues into Season 2 with new life. For this episode’s score, I carried the theme through different variations to reflect Pentious’ backstory and his adjustment to his new life in Heaven. 🎵 Composer: Brian Sadler (Season 2 Score)

🎵 Original Theme by: Gooseworx & Evan Alderete

This clip starts off with about 20 seconds of an unused cue from the Hazbin Hotel episode “New Pentious.” This section was cut because, after coming out of a song, a brief moment of musical silence provided better “breathing room” for the audience. When the score returns, it features a variation of Pentious’ theme along with the new love theme for Charlie and Vaggie. Can I release the entire score? Nope, Amazon owns that, not me. I can only post clips from the final version of the show.
